On March 2, three pallet carriers were busy loading screw expander power generation equipment at Zhejiang Kaishan Energy Equipment Co., Ltd.’s assembling workshop, which would be sent to Budapest, Hungary. Ahead of them, another batch of equipment had already begun its journey to Budapest.
We have been informed that this batch of equipment will be used for geothermal power generation in Budapest, Hungary. On May 5, 2016, KS Orka based in Singapore, a subsidiary of Zhejiang Kaishan Compressor Co., Ltd. (Kaishan Stock) acquired 51% of the shares in Hungary Turawell geothermal company to jointly develop geothermal energy. The company currently owns 3 geothermal wells with 2.7MW of potential net capacity, has reached an agreed power price of USD 11.1 cents/KWH (increasing by 1% annually), and is permitted to operate the power plant for 10 years. The amount of potential geothermal energy of the entire area is 70MW, the first 30 MW of which will be developed during the first stage. The company owns exclusive right to develop the geothermal energy. Geothermal fluid from the wells will first be used to generate power. Low temperature water coming from power generation will be used for heating in green houses and the power plant area, and then finally be re-injected into the ground. The system works in an environmentally friendly way. The Turawell project is Kaishan’s first step in geothermal development in Europe.
It has been known that this batch of screw expander power generation equipment, Kaishan’s first great capacity doubled expander power unit, has been manufactured in full compliance with European standards, which is the first time Kaishan does so. In order for pressure vessels to pass PED certification, for electrical work to pass UI certification, and the entire unit to comply European safety and environment standards, both the equipment design and the manufacturing process have been successful in meeting rigorous and high requirements. Manager in charge of Kaishan Energy Company said: Finishing the project has been an opportunity for the technique of our first-line employees to be improved. During the heat exchanger welding, the welders overcame various difficulties and applied new welding techniques, finally achieving the goals of this project.
Turawell power generation project is the first step Kaishan has taken to establish its position in European geothermal power generation market, helps to achieve the company’s goal in installed geothermal generation capacity in the coming 5 year, and promotes the company’s strategic transformation to a globally influential renewable energy operator and supplier of complete sets of geothermal power generation equipment.
